Heleni Linton Bursary 2017

This Bursary was established in memory of Heleni Linton, an outstanding librarian also worked for Ernst and Young Hong Kong was tragically killed in an air crash in 1991. A memorial account was later established from funds donated by Ernst and Young, by colleagues, and by friends. From December 1992, interest accrued to the account has been used to award a modest annual bursary bearing her name. The beneficiary receivers the bursary at a ceremony held every year at the association's annual general meeting.

The bursary is awarded on a competitive basis in full or part-time students of library and information science to assist in their studies. It might help with course fees, short sabbaticals, research materials costs, conference attendance, and the like. Applications for the Bursary, which amounts to HK$5,000, will be assessed by considering the potential applicability and contribution of the proposal to library and information science in our region and the likely impact of the Bursary on the career of the applicant. Hong Kong Library Association Biennial Award 2016

This award was established by the Hong Kong Library Association in 2010. The Association is committed to provide comprehensive professional support to its members. This Award is hence set up to address the professional development needs of eligible Full Members of the Association who are practicing at paraprofessional to middle professional levels in the library and information fields. Through this Award, the Association will support the professional development of the awardees, such as conference or workshop attendances, overseas professional visits, preparation of a scholarly publication or any professional activities, etc., which are otherwise unlikely to be sponsored by their employers, nor by the other scholarships or awards currently offered by the Association. Part-time Archivist (Ref.: PM(PT)/LIB/0217) 
(Holding the substantive rank of Project Manager)

The Education University of Hong Kong Library is seeking a well experienced professional archivist to serve as a part-time Archivist. Reporting to the Librarian, the appointee will advise the Library and the Hong Kong Museum of Education and lead a project in setting up and operating the University Archives, developing an official University Archives Policy, setting up guidelines, workflows and procedure manuals for acquisitions, preservation, cataloguing, recording, digitization and filing of archival items. He/she will also identify and collect potential archival items from internal and external sources, and provide professional training to Library and Museum staff on all aspects of archives management. The appointment will be for a period of up to 18 months and the appointee will be required to work for around 80 hours per month.

Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree plus a postgraduate-level training (Doctoral or Master's degree, Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent) in archives management and at least 6 years' hands on experience in planning and managing institutional archives. Excellent analytical, problem solving, organization and leadership skills, and high proficiency in English and Chinese are required. 

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
