Hong Kong Library Association Biennial Award 2018

This award was established by the Hong Kong Library Association in 2010. The Association is committed to provide comprehensive professional support to its members. This Award is hence set up to address the professional development needs of eligible Full Members of the Association who are practicing at paraprofessional to middle professional levels in the library and information fields. Through this Award, the Association will support the professional development of the awardees, such as conference or workshop attendances, overseas professional visits, preparation of a scholarly publication or any professional activities, etc., which are otherwise unlikely to be sponsored by their employers, nor by the other scholarships or awards currently offered by the Association. Project Coordinator II  

Applicants should have i) a Bachelor's degree or above; preferably in Library or IT related discipline; ii) at least 2 years relevant working experience is preferred; iii) working knowledge of processing of digital objects and managing AV equipment; iv) proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop and other graphic design tools; v) proficiency in English and Chinese; vi) good interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills; vii) a strong sense of responsibility and self-motivation; the ability to work independently, collaboratively and under pressure. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience in image/audio/video formats and relevant equipment.

The appointee will be assigned to work in Research Support and Digital Initiatives of the Library. Duties include: (a) logistical support and coordination in various digitization and other related projects ; (b) assisting in the managing and processing of large data sets; (c) providing assistance to organize events and the operation of the Digital Scholarship Lab including the use of software, workstations and equipment (d) designing websites, leaflets and other art works; (e) supervising student helpers for various library events / projects and assisting in related budgetary control; (f) recording and compiling usage statistics of the department; (g) performing general office administrative tasks; and (h) undertaking other tasks as assigned. Shift duties at library counters are required.

Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.  [Note: Applicants must submit copies of HKCEE/HKDSE certificates showing that they have fulfilled the language requirements and academic qualifications stated above, otherwise their applications may NOT be considered.]
