Hong Kong Library Association Biennial Award 2018

This award was established by the Hong Kong Library Association in 2010. The Association is committed to provide comprehensive professional support to its members. This Award is hence set up to address the professional development needs of eligible Full Members of the Association who are practicing at paraprofessional to middle professional levels in the library and information fields. Through this Award, the Association will support the professional development of the awardees, such as conference or workshop attendances, overseas professional visits, preparation of a scholarly publication or any professional activities, etc., which are otherwise unlikely to be sponsored by their employers, nor by the other scholarships or awards currently offered by the Association.  As a non-profit making post-secondary education institution registered under the Post-Secondary College Ordinance (Cap. 320), the Chu Hai College of Higher Education (珠海學院) is located at 80 Castle Peak Road, Castle Peak Bay, Tuen Mun. In fulfilment of its pledge to achieve academic excellence, the College invites applications to fill the following post:
   
Library Assistant     
Kong Mou Sum Library
(Ref. KMSL/1709/HKLA)


Duties
The appointee is expected to:
(1) Assist in cataloguing and processing of library materials;
(2) Perform counter and shift duties on regular basis, including evenings and weekends;
(3) Answer general enquiries and provide clerical duties;
(4) Assist users in the use of library services, resources and facilities;
(5) Perform book shelving, shelf-reading and stack maintenance if required; and
(6) Carry out other duties as assigned by the Librarian or his/her delegates.

Requirements
Applicants should have:    
(1) A recognised certificate or diploma; or
(2) Grade E or above in at least 5 subjects in HKCEE, including Chinese and English (minimum Grade C or above for Syllabus A) OR minimum Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSE including English Language and Chinese Language;
(3) Knowledge of any Integrated Library System and have good command of computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Chinese word processing;
(4) Knowledge of MARC21, AACRII, RDA, DDC and LC preferable;
(5) Good communication and interpersonal skills; and
(6) Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua and Cantonese)
