In order to promote co-operation and the exchange of ideas between libraries in Guangdong, Fujian and Hong Kong, the Library Society of Guangdong Province, the Library Society of Fujian Province and the Hong Kong Library Association will be holding a joint conference from 11th to 14th October 2007, in Wuyishan (武夷山) , Fujian Province.

The main theme of the conference is "Innovation, Development and Transformation in Libraries" (圖書館創新、發展與變革), and the program will include keynote and submitted papers from representatives of each region, as well as social gatherings and heritage tours of the Wuyishan area.

You are invited to participate in this important collaborative event for libraries in the region. As a HKLA member, you can register for the conference and make all your travel and accommodation arrangements through the Association, to take advantage of group booking discounts.

Conference Attendance Package

The estimated cost of the HKLA group tour package is $3700 per head for single room accommodation, or $3,100 per head for shared twin room accommodation (subject to confirmation), and includes the following;

- Return airfares and taxes, Hong Kong to Wuyishan
Tentative flight schedule: Departs from Hong Kong at 21:10 on Wednesday, 10th October 2007; returns from Wuyishan at 18:45 on Sunday, 14th October 2007)

- Four nights accommodation on single or twin share basis at Century Land Hotel (世紀桃源酒店), Wuyishan

Call for Papers

 In addition to attending the joint conference, you are invited to present a paper on a topic relating to any of the following conference themes:

1. Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 (Web2.0與圖書館2.0)

2. Open Access and Institutional Repository (開放獲取與機構庫)

3. Libraries, reading and the public (圖書館與公眾閱讀)

4. Transformation of library management (圖書館管理的變革)

5. Library co-operation and information resource sharing (圖書館協作與資訊資源分享)

Papers can be written and presented either as text or Powerpoint presentation, and in Chinese or in English (although translation to Chinese will be necessary).  Presentations are expected to be of approximately 15 minutes duration and will be grouped according to the above themes. All papers will be presented in Putonghua or in English with Putonghua translation.
