You are cordially invited to attend a seminar on copyright.    Mr. Derek Whitehead will feature the seminar.    Mr. Whitehead is the current president of the Australian Library Association (ALIA) [http://www.alia.org.au] and chair of the Australian Digital Alliance (ADA) [http://www.digital.org.au], an Australian copyright user lobby group.
 
Mr. Whitehead will speak about Copyright Dangers for Us All. This will be a brief tour around current issues in copyright around the world, as seen by libraries and their friends. The digital revolution has dramatically changed the environment for copyright, and the law has a long way to go to catch up. He will expose some of the myths of copyright, and set out some of the dangers. The presentation will cover Google deal, Creative Commons, the Internet, anti-counterfeiting, piracy, and more.    He will speak from a library viewpoint, with our commitment to information for all. He argues that copyright must reflect a balance between the interests of copyright owners, and the interests of those who use it.
 
Mr. Whitehead will also be speaking at the IATUL Conference (Leuven, Belgium, June 2009) on Copyright and Innovation: Not Friends Any More?
