Hong Kong Library Association Biennial Award 2018

This award was established by the Hong Kong Library Association in 2010. The Association is committed to provide comprehensive professional support to its members. This Award is hence set up to address the professional development needs of eligible Full Members of the Association who are practicing at paraprofessional to middle professional levels in the library and information fields. Through this Award, the Association will support the professional development of the awardees, such as conference or workshop attendances, overseas professional visits, preparation of a scholarly publication or any professional activities, etc., which are otherwise unlikely to be sponsored by their employers, nor by the other scholarships or awards currently offered by the Association. Academic Librarian 3: The Yin-Yang of Future Consortial Collaboration and Competition is a conference jointly organized by JULAC and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, University Library System. There are many quality papers and these papers will be peer reviewed by Library Management journal. Conference themes:

Theme 1 - Academic library consortia governance: a 3-mile high view of balance, priorities and evaluation (Keynote speaker, Chen Ling, CALIS)
Theme 2 - Co-operative staff development: benefits, pitfalls and best practices (Keynote speaker, Antony Loveland, Chair cpd25, M25 consortium of academic libraries, UK)
Theme 3 - Cutting edge approaches to access to and storage of shared paper-based and digital collections: open and closed systems (Keynote speaker, Laine Farley, CDL)
Theme 4 - Centralizing collection management and technical services: inevitable or avoidable? (Keynote speaker, Elliott Shore, ARL)

Conference fee (Early bird HK$800 and HK$400 (HKLA student member) includes

- Attendance at all Conference sessions
- Satchel and contents
- Coffee breaks and two luncheons
- Conference dinner on 30 May 2013 (Hyatt Shatin)
