Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. 17071901-E)
Under the supervision of Associate Librarian (Digital Development and Services), the appointee will work with other Library  staff members to provide technical support to the users of the new digital facilities and services in the Library, and to  develop, implement and support the Library's information systems and IT initiatives.


The appointee will be required to:

(a) provide technical support to Library users on using the digital facilities such as 3D scanning, VR, AR, IOT, and handle users' enquiries on IT issues;
(b) create graphics, animations and digital content to support and promote Library resources, services, and activities on Library webpage and other Library publications;
(c) participate in the evaluation and implementation of new digital technology and equipment in enhancing Library services;
(d) conduct training to Library Assistants for providing technical support to students and faculties on using Library digital facilities and services;
(e) assist in hardware and software installation, maintenance and trouble-shooting and administer the inventory of IT and AV assets;
(f) perform shift duties and provide IT support to users at the Library Technical Support Desk; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or his/her delegates.


Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree or higher diploma in Multimedia Design, Computer Science or a related discipline with at least three years of relevant experience;
(b) knowledge and experience in the application of 2D and 3D design software, graphics design and multimedia production;
(c) demonstrated knowledge and interests in emerging technologies for digital content creation;
(d) excellent customer service and communication skills;
(e) self-motivation and capability to work independently, and
(f) good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
