Library Assistant I (Ref. 17071902-E)
Under the supervision of Section Head (Research Support), the appointee will support the Section in promoting the University's research strategy.


The appointee will be required to:

(a) deal with enquiries received from students and staff regarding the use of EndNote and respond in a professional and prompt manner;
(b) assist in different projects to support the University's strategy in increasing the visibility of the institution's research and thus raising the research impact within the scholarly communities;
(c) update and maintain procedural documents, statistics and assist in other administrative matters;
(d) assist professional librarians to conduct workshops and seminars and provide assistance to participants attending the workshops;
(e) plan and implement logistics and promotion activities for workshops organised by the Section;
(f) provide citation searching service;
(g) perform counter and shift duties; and
(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the University Librarian or his/her delegates.


Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree or a recognised certificate or diploma with at least three years of relevant experience, or five passes in HKCEE including English Language (at least Grade C if Syllabus A; Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards); Chinese Language (Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards); and Mathematics; or a combination of results in five HKDSE subjects of Level 2 in New Senior Secondary subjects / "Attained" in Applied Learning subjects / Grade E in Other Language subjects; and the five subjects must include English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics with at least eight years of relevant experience;
(b) have knowledge in computer applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word processing; proficiency in Adobe Creative software (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator & Dreamweaver) would be an advantage;
(c) have excellent customer service and communication skills; and
(d) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Preference will be given to those with relevant operation experience in a large library or an academic library.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
