Cultural Forum on Taiwan

The Kwang Hwa Information & Culture Center not only manages a library which is specialized in Taiwan information, but also promotes cultural developments in our region.  To this end, the Center has been organizing a series of talks covering the areas of Internet book stores and publishing, development and operation of museums in Taiwan and libraries in the digital era since November 2000.  The Hong Kong Library Association was honoured to be the co-organizer for the 1st and the 3rd events.

Prof. Karl Ku, Director General of the Parliamentary Library of Legislative Yuan, Taiwan, came and shared with the audience his experience of “Website Library & Its Parliamentary Information & Dissemination Services: Case Study of the Parliamentary Library of Taiwan ROC” on 18 May 2001.  This valuable event attracted an audience of more than 50 library professionals and some of them came all the way from Macau.  Because the talk started at 3:00 p.m., some members were still engaged in their regular business and could not join us.   Prof Ku was kind enough to agree to put his speech  on our website.  Prof. Ku also invites any member who has questions or who is interested in further discussion by emailing him at karlku@ly.gov.tw.
