The President, Mr. Tommy Yeung began by recapturing the major events and achievements for the year, followed by the election of new Council members. Dr. Tony Ferguson was elected unopposed to be the new President for the 2003 Council, leading a team of 15 members from different library sectors.
The highlight of the evening was the talk by Mr. Patrick Yu, an eminent barrister in Hong Kong and author of two books: "A Seventh Child and the Law" and "Tales from no. 9 Ice House Street." The theme of his talk was "The Art of Cross Examination in Litigation." He also shared with us some of the most memorable court cases he came across in his life as a barrister. Some members seized the chance to ask for Mr. Yu's autographs afterwards.
Mr. Yu and Ms. Irene Cheng from Ernst & Young kindly presented prizes to the recipients of the H A Rydings Awards and the Heleni Linton Bursary.
